Hamlify Privacy Policy
Hamlify is a bookmark management app. Your personal information is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes. All your data is stored on your device and, optionally, in your private iCloud account.
1. Data Collected by Hamlify
1.1 Data You Provide Directly
Hamlify only stores the information you choose to save:
- URLs and titles of the links you save
- Notes, categories, and tags you assign to your links
- Collections you create to organize your links
- App preferences (theme, view mode, sorting, preferred browser, etc.)
- Domain-based automation settings
This data is stored locally on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, synced with your private iCloud account (see section 3).
1.2 Data Generated Automatically by App Usage
- Thumbnails and icons (favicons) of the sites you save, downloaded directly from each link’s domain
- Web page metadata (title, description, preview image), obtained by connecting directly to the corresponding website
- Local usage statistics: number of times you open each link, active day streaks, and app usage start date
This data never leaves your device and is not sent to Hamlify or any third party.
2. Network Connections Made by the App
When you save a link or update its thumbnails, Hamlify connects directly to the website of the link to obtain the page title and description, preview image, and the site’s favicon or icon.
These connections are made only with the domain of the link you are saving. Hamlify does not use any third-party services to fetch favicons or metadata. Services such as Google, DuckDuckGo, Clearbit, favicone.com, or similar are not contacted. The app does not make any additional network connections to Hamlify’s own servers.
3. iCloud and Sync
If you have an active iCloud account on your device, Hamlify can sync your data across your own devices using CloudKit, Apple’s sync service.
What is synced
- All your links
- Categories, tags, and collections
- Configured automations and rules
- Usage statistics (streaks, active days)
- Downloaded thumbnails and icons
How it works
- Your data is stored in your private iCloud database, which only you can access with your Apple ID
- Apple encrypts data in transit and at rest
- Hamlify does not have access to your data stored in iCloud
- If you uninstall the app, your data remains in iCloud until you decide to delete it from Settings > [your name] > iCloud
Silent push notifications
The app uses silent push notifications (APNs) exclusively to trigger CloudKit synchronization when your data changes on another device. No marketing notifications, or notifications of any other kind, are sent through this mechanism. If you do not have iCloud enabled, this functionality does not operate at all.

4. Automatic Category Classification
Hamlify includes an automatic category classification system based on artificial intelligence. This system uses a machine learning model (CoreML) and Apple’s NaturalLanguage framework.
The model runs entirely on your device. No text or URL is sent to external servers for classification. Processing is 100% local and private.
5. Data Not Collected
Hamlify does not collect or transmit:
- Your name, email address, or contact details
- Your location or geolocation data
- Diagnostic data or anonymous usage analytics
- Payment information or financial data
- Biometric data
- Contact lists, photos, or other device resources
- Browsing history outside the app
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
6. Sharing Data with Third Parties
Hamlify does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not integrate advertising networks, third-party analytics tools, or tracking SDKs.
The only third parties involved in the operation of the app are:
- Apple Inc. — provider of iCloud and CloudKit (optional, only if you have iCloud enabled)
- The websites of the links you save — contacted directly to obtain thumbnails and icons
7. Security
- All local data is protected by the device’s encryption system (iOS Data Protection)
- iCloud sync uses encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest according to Apple standards
- The app does not store its own credentials, passwords, or authentication tokens
8. Children
Hamlify is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has used the app, you can delete all data by uninstalling the app and deleting the iCloud data from the device settings.
9. Your Rights and Control Over Your Data
You have full control over your data at all times:
- Export your data: Hamlify includes an export feature (Settings > Import / Export) that allows you to obtain all your links in a standard format.
- Delete your data: Uninstalling the app deletes all local data. To also delete iCloud data, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Hamlify > Delete Data.
- Disable iCloud: You can disable sync at any time from your device’s iCloud settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page. We recommend reviewing it occasionally.
